Healthy Lifestyle Club- Palm View Nature Lovers

The next HLC brisk walk will be on 18 Oct 2015.   Pre-registration is required.   Members are to assemble outside our RC Centre at 7am.   


We will be organising 1 trip per month to different places (by coach or mini bus) to let our members enjoy the fresh air at local greenery/waterways while brisk walking/jogging. We may also be holding picnics after the exercise to encourage interaction among our members.  To be our Healthy Lifestyle Club member, you must be a PAssion Card holder.    Registration is open at our centre at Blk 225 #01-567 with no cost to the residents.   All age groups are welcomed.
 
With effect from 20 Sep 2015, each member shall earn 1 lucky draw chance for every 3 brisk walk registered.   The lucky draw will be conducted at each brisk walk with 10 prizes ($5 shopping voucher each) to be won.   3 brisk walk record will be cancelled for every prize being won.

In the previous scheme, each Palm View residents automatically become our PALM VIEW KAWAN KAWAN and issued with a membership card free of charge.   Stamps were awarded to them for every Palm View activity (including brisk walk) participated and they can exchange these stamps for gifts of their choice when sufficient stamps were collected.   Stamps were also awarded if the members referred their neighbours to join the scheme (The Kawan Kawan scheme was ceased on 30 Jun 2014).

Singapore Botanical Gardens Brisk Walk on 16 Dec 2012

A total of 44 members went for an hour long brisk walk that morning.   The weather was so cooling after a heavy down pour early in the morning before we arrived.   Our members enjoyed the walk so much that some of them actually asked for another brisk walk session there.



Telok Ayer - Chinatown Cultural Walk on 18 Nov 2012

22 members embarked on a morning brisk walk along the stretch of Telok Ayer Street where places of great historical interest provided some insight into the lives of Singapore's early immigrants.   We also visited the oldest Hokkien temple in Singapore - the Thian Hock Keng temple which was built in the 1800s.

Green Day at Bishan - Ang Mo Kio Park 2 on 8 Sep 2012

30 members went on this very special and meaningful brisk walk cum litter picking to keep our environment free from litter.   This event was organised by RSVP for the Senior Volunteer Week in line with the President's Challenge 2012's focus on volunteerism as one of its components.    There was mass Qigong exercise and entertainment as well for all.

One Community Walk on 26 Aug 2012

34 of our members participated in this annual mass brisk walk event organised by Kebun Baru Community Sports Club.  All participants were given a free t/shirt, light refreshment and goodie bag.   Lucky draw was also held at the end of the walk.


 

                                     

                                      





   
Fitness Assessment at Toa Payoh Sports Stadium on 15 Jul 2012
A total of 31 members participated in this simple fitness assessment between 7 to 9am.    The eldest amongst all was 81 years old.    Height and weight together with a simple family heath survey was done prior to the assessment.   Most of the members completed 5 rounds of brisk walking in the stadium and they were awarded the Certificate of Participation.   Some were also presented with gift vouchers for  achieving good fitness results.   Once completed, we adjourned to a nearby Food Centre/Wet Market at Toa Payoh Lorong 8 for breakfast and s ome shopping before returning home at 11am.

First Brisk Walking on 24 Jun 2012
A total of 30 members went on a 2 km brisk walk at East Coast Park.   It was the first outing for the group since its formation on 28 May 2012.   A coach was chartered and light refreshment was also provided during the hour long exercise.   The participants got to exercise alongside with many regular joggers at the park and witnessed other water sports enthusiasts practicing their skills.   They also enjoyed the light sea breeze and scenic coastline.   After the walk, the members visited the nearby Parkway Parade Shopping Mall for an hour before heading home satisfied.
